School Closed - Until Further Notice

Update: April 21, 2020

Governor Wolf announced today, due to COVID-19, that all schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. However WHSD will continue to use our Continuity of Education Plan through our Google Classrooms.

At a press conference earlier today, Governor Wolf announced that all schools in Pennsylvania will remain closed until further notice.As posted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), “Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures to protect everyone’s health and safety”.

At Wayne Highlands School District, we continue to follow all of the recommended guidance, attempting to do our part as we face the multitude of challenges presented by COVID-19.The toll this global pandemic is taking on our nation, commonwealth, and local community is devastating. At Wayne Highlands School District, we are saddened by the consequence this has had on the education of our students.However, we are not deterred from still making great things happen.We continue to develop methods to educate our students in this new, challenging environment.We look forward to future guidance from PDE.We also look forward to relaying our updated Remote Learning Plan to you.Trust that over the next several days we will be communicating as new information is available.

All Wayne Highlands School District buildings will remain CLOSED with only very limited essential personnel available. Please contact 570-253-4661 with any questions. Please note, the Grab and Go Breakfast/Lunch Program will be continued.This FREE Grab and Go Breakfast/Lunch Program is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Damascus Area School, Honesdale High School, Preston Area School, and The Cooperage. All children 18 and younger are eligible.

Lunch Program Information


Grab and Go Breakfast/Lunch Program - Continued

Wayne Highlands School District will be continuing to offer the FREE Grab and Go Breakfast/Lunch Program for the remainder of the State ordered school closure.The Program is open to all children eighteen (18) and younger. Beginning Monday, April 27, 2020 there will be a change in the schedule.Grab and Go Breakfast/Lunch will now be served on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Damascus Area School, Honesdale High School, Preston Area School, and the Cooperage.To accommodate the schedule change and to assure that the same number of meals are made available to each child, meals for Tuesday will be distributed at the Monday pick-up and meals for Thursday will be distributed at the Wednesday pick-up.The Program is FREE!Everyone is encouraged to participate.Please see the details below.
