Students start Dress for Success closet

Students of Honesdale High School are looking to make a difference this year by creating a Dress for Success Closet. The goal of this project is to have dress clothes and hygiene products available to all students free of charge, so that appearance will not be a limiting factor for student involvement.

These clothes can be used for interviews, graduation, NHS inductions, senior pictures, field trips, etc. This closet is being organized by seniors Chloe Fox, Miranda Fritz, and Dominic Maglione as part of the Future Business Leaders of America Community Service Project.

They will work closely with Mrs. Schuman’s Life Skills class who will assist in laundering and maintaining the clothes. As part of the planning stages for the project, the ambassadors of the closet applied for and received a Walmart grant, which is intended to defray costs associated with the project.

The FBLA students graciously accepted the support and are excited to use the money to set the project in motion. Senior ambassador Chloe Fox says, “We’re super excited to see how the project can positively impact the community and help the student body. That’s the main goal of the closet, to help improve the school community as a whole.”

The Dress for Success closet has already received many donations, as is slated to open at the high school just in time for the holiday season.
