September 7, 2021

Attention Parents, Guardians and Students:

As announced last week, the Order of the Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health Directing Face Coverings in School Entities goes into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

The Order calls for masking indoors. This still includes mandatory masking on public transportation, to include school buses. Please note, as per the Order, masking outdoors is not mandatory (i.e. recess, outdoor activities, etc.). The Order encourages individuals to consider following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in regard to masking outdoors: Outdoors - In general, people do not need to wear masks when outdoors. CDC recommends that people who are not fully vaccinated wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings or during activities that involve sustained close contact with other people. Fully vaccinated people might choose to wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised.

Beginning tomorrow, masking outdoors will be encouraged, but not required.
