Board of Director's Honor Seniors at December Meeting

December Student Honored by BoardFour Honesdale High School students were recognized last week by the school board for their achievements in and out of the classroom.

Austin Adams is a senior, son of Gregory and Deborah Adams. He ranks in the top 5% of his class and is involved in Soccer / Varsity Soccer – Letter / Captain, Youth Soccer Referee, Track & Field/ Varsity Track & Field – Letter, Science Olympiad, Interact Club, Student Council – Member-at-large / President, Arc Volunteer, Honor Roll, National Honor Society, and St. John’s Youth Group Member. In his future, he plans to attend a four-year university to study physics and/or mathematics.

Hunter Stephens is a senior, son of Todd and Richelle Stephens. He ranks in the top 5% of his class and is involved in Varsity Tennis – Letter, Varsity Soccer – Letter, Marywood Math Contest – Top score for HHS (11th/12th grades), Math Madness Online Competition, King’s College Math Contest, Science Olympiad, Envirothon / Envirothon States (2015, 2016), Freshman Class President, Student Council – Homeroom Representative / Member-at-large, Interact Club – President (Junior & Senior), Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Troop 1 – Eagle Scout, Wayne Memorial Community Advisory Board, Grace Episcopal Church Youth Group, Habitat for Humanity – Volunteer, and Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary - Volunteer. Hunter plans to attend a four-year university to study biology with a minor in either international business or political science or both.After earning a bachelor’s degree, he would like to pursue a master’s degree and conduct research.

Emily Theobald is a senior, daughter of Joseph and Misty Thoebald. She ranks in the top 5% of her class and is involved in JV / Varsity Basketball – Letter / Captain, Best Offensive Player (2 times), Most Promising Upcoming Varsity Player (1 time), Varsity Soccer – Letter, American Mathematics Contest, Interact Club – Vice President (Junior & Senior), All-School Musical – Set Design, Scholastic Art Contest – Silver Key recipient, Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity – Volunteer, and St. John’s Youth Group – President (Senior). Emily plans to attend a four-year university to major in Elementary Education and Special Education, minor in Spanish, and continue her basketball career

Benjamin Wilken is a senior, son of Brian and Emily Wilken. He ranks in the top 5% of his class and is involved in Cross Country – Most Outstanding Runner / Academic Excellence Award, Letter / Vision Award / Captain / All Star, Varsity Track & Field – Letter / Captain, Marywood Math Competition, American Mathematics Contest, King’s College Math Contest, Math Madness Online Competition, Science Olympiad – States Experimental Design – 2nd Place (Freshman) / 1st Place (Junior), Entomology – 3rd Place, Envirothon / Envirothon States – County Winner / State Qualifier, Robotics Club – District Champion / World Qualifier, Mock Trial – Best Witness Award, Student Council – Member-at-large / Vice President (Junior), Interact Club - Treasurer, Keystone Boy’s State Attendee, PA Academic Competition – 4th place at state competition, Honor Roll, National Honor Society – Blood drive committee chairman, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Ben plans on attending the United States Military Academy or a four-year college. He wishes to major in molecular biology or neuroscience and attend medical school.
